Our Feathered Friends, the Ducks

The ducks have been here from the very beginning, in fact we inherited them from the previous home owners and thus began our journey of learning to care for farm animals. I remember the day we moved here, letting the ducks out of the coop in the morning, and resonating so much with their enthusiastic sense of freedom. Rural living is truly a free range lifestyle.

Ducks are messy, but they're also quite friendly (except for the broody mamas) and curious creatures. Before we moved out of the city, I would have never dreamed we'd one day have over twenty ducks in our care. They take care of us too - they minimize the mosquitos and slugs, enrich the soil, and provide delicious and nutritious eggs in abundance.

If you have the space and a good source of water, I definitely recommend getting a few ducks on the homestead!
